National Referral Group

Why Join NRG?

At the National Referral Group breakfast meetings, we provide a friendly, non-threatening environment to meet and mingle with local business owners from your local area.

Before your day in the office, you will have the opportunity to network with like-minded individuals, telling the group about your business achievements, new products, or even that successful deal you’ve just closed.

We have made a number of changes to the traditional networking framework – possibly the most noticeable (after the reduced fees!) being that we are only inviting owners or directors of businesses to attend. This means that any referrals you give will be going straight to the person who needs to hear them the most: and any referrals you receive are guaranteed to be unique. You are encouraged to think of each other as more than just friends, more than colleagues – you are all essentially one great sales team for each other’s businesses – and that’s what makes National Referral group successful!

NRG Networking Groups

Whangarei
9am Group

Held every Tuesday morning
from 9:00am – 10:30am

At the National Referral Group breakfast meetings, we provide a friendly, non-threatening environment to meet and mingle with local business owners from your local area.

We follow a very similar framework to many other well-known networking groups, with some notable differences: we charge a $100 yearly membership fee, we do not encourage forced referrals; and all of our members are the owners or directors of their own businesses.

These meetings follow a structured framework. When we first arrive, we like to catch up, mingle and enjoy our delicious breakfast (which is served to us at the table), before getting into the networking mode. Once we’re all settled in and comfortable, we start off with the president of the group welcoming us, and introducing any guests that may have joined us for the morning. Once that is taken care of, we get into the 60 second talks. This is what we call the ‘member’s minute’ – it’s an opportunity for each member to stand up and promote their business, discuss a new service, mention a great new product they’re offering, introduce a current client to the group, and talk about what kind of referrals they’d like. We encourage members to think of the group as their dedicated sales team – talk about your products as though your target market were seated all around you.

There is a break after the member’s minute business updates, which members use to mingle, recharge their coffees or teas, and chat to new members or catch up with friends. Back at the table after the break, each member is asked in turn if they have any boosts or referrals to share. A ‘boost’ is where a member shares a positive experience with another member’s business services or products, where a referral is a solid lead for new business for a member. Boosts and referrals are written on notices which are collected and passed on to the president at the conclusion of this part of the meeting.

Each week there is a scheduled speaker from within the NRG membership, who is given 10 minutes instead of the standard 1, in order to go into some depth about their business services or products. This is designed to give every other member a deeper understanding of how they can promote this business to their contacts, and is an invaluable opportunity to increase an existing client base. At the conclusion of this 10 minute presentation, the meeting wraps up with some basic housekeeping (secretary’s report, announcements etc) and all members head off to their businesses feeling invigorated and excited about potential new leads!

We welcome visitors, so please contact us if you’d like to come along!
