This game was devised by Emma from WordPerfect to discover the keywords people are typing into Google to find your services as opposed to the keywords you are using on your website to describe your services. It’s heaps of fun, really useful and can be played with friends, colleagues, customers or people you meet on the street.
Wordperfect’s FREAKISHLY awesome and TOTALLY fantastic keyphrase experiment.
Now the idea here is that we’re going to do a bit of a reality check – what you think people will search for online when looking for your services, vs your actual customer base. You could be spot on. I really hope not, because that would totally ruin my theory. But let’s try this out and see what happens! Download the Business Keywords Game Sheet Now…
How the Business Keywords Game Works…
Person 1: Your friend or customer or colleague
Ask this person to write actual real genuine 100% totally honest searches that they would type in to Google if they were wanting to use the services of your company.
Person 2: That’s You!
You write down at least 7 search terms (and they can be actual questions, as that’s the trend these days) that you think your market would use to find your own services/products online.
Now compare the 2 lists.
For each keyword/keyphrase which you wrote down the same, you (the business owner) get a chocolate…at least that’s the way we played it with Emma at our NRG meeting last week. Enjoy!
